Last week Michelle Obama, with the help of Washington DC school children, broke ground on a White House garden, one that will produce organic fruits, vegetables and herbs for the White House kitchen. This action sparked applause from supporters of the organic and natural foods movement, who predict the Obama administration's support of whole foods will help propel changes in our food production and distribution system, especially in our nation's public schools and inner cities, where whole, unprocessed foods can be scarce.
You can learn more about the whole foods movement in this New York Times article, and by atching the CBS 60 Minutes segment on Alice Waters.
